How to Enable or Disable "Allow Financial Project Free Text"

The Allow Financial Project Free Text setting controls whether users can manually type free-text values into the Financial Project field when creating or editing orders. When disabled, users must select from predefined values only.

This setting is managed at the system level and applies globally.


Navigation Path

Follow this menu path to access the setting:

System → System Settings → Order Settings → General


How to Enable “Allow Financial Project Free Text”

  1. Open the application and log in with administrator or system configuration access.

  2. Navigate to:
    System → System Settings → Order Settings → General

  3. Locate the option labeled Allow Financial Project Free Text.

  4. Check the checkbox to enable the feature.

  5. Click Save (or Apply, depending on your system version).

Result

Users will be able to manually enter text into the Financial Project field instead of being limited to predefined selections.


How to Disable “Allow Financial Project Free Text”

  1. Open the application and log in with administrator or system configuration access.

  2. Navigate to:
    System → System Settings → Order Settings → General

  3. Locate the option labelled Allow Financial Project Free Text.

  4. Uncheck the checkbox to disable the feature.

  5. Click Save (or Apply).

Result

Users will only be able to select Financial Project values from the available list and will not be able to enter custom text.


Important Notes

  • This is a global system setting and affects all users.

  • Changes take effect immediately after saving.

  • Disabling free text is recommended when strict financial project control or reporting accuracy is required.

  • Enabling free text may increase flexibility but can lead to inconsistent project naming.
