The Convention page provides the text of the regulations which drive the compliance check engine. This page allows a user with management level access to the work and rest module to configure the settings of the work and rest non-conformance checker.

The Allow Exception option allows the NC checker to allow minor exceptions to the two daily hours and rest hours, provided they are within the rules set you in STCW Section A-VIII/1 paragraph 9. Where exceptions are detected, they will be displayed with a green annotation against the record.

The OPA 90 Clause allows the user to define periods of time when visiting the United States and thus inform the non-conformance checker to also check that the more stringent rules work, and rest hours required by the US Oil Pollution Act 1990. These rules only affect foreign flag tank vessels. This check can be applied to any vessel within COMPAS.

To add a period, click the + icon which will launch the below pop up where the start date and time and end date and time can be entered for when the vessel enters and leaves US waters. These will then be applied to applicable records sheets.bc8e79c6-0ea3-4e02-a0c6-0ec78cfde3e5.png

The Short Breaks options allow for the non-conformance checker to discount short breaks as rest hours. The function allows the user to define the maximum length of short break in minutes. The minimum for this function 30 minutes.
