In Compas, this feature can be found through: Admin | General | Library Configuration.
Standard Ranks are the baseline ranks inside Compas. Against these, we can create company-specific ranks ('Company Ranks') as required.
Standard Ranks are based on the qualifications required for that rank. We may have various levels of a particular rank based on salary or other factors for the Company Ranks, but if they all require the same qualifications they will be mapped under one rank in Standard Ranks.
For example, the Master is a Standard Rank, but the client may refer to some of their Masters by other names for certain owners or for specific purposes (e.g., Captain, Offshore Master, etc.) then we will have Master configured as the 'standard' rank and link the other ranks (Captain, Offshore Master, etc.) to it via the Compas function Company Ranks.
In this way, Compas will handle all of these ranks as a Master, as this is the Standard Rank, and all Qualification Matrices for documents compliance checks will be configured in the system based on the Standard Rank.
Compas provides a sample list that can be updated as required according to the client requirements. Note that come functionalities in Compas might use some hard-coded Standard Rank codes and may require certain maintenance as per client’s requirements.
- Access Standard Ranks via Admin → General → Library Configuration.
- Use the drop-down to select the Standard Ranks library.
- We can also search for a specific Standard Rank via the search bar as shown below:
- Add a new Standard Rank via the green cross.
- We can import Permissions en masse for our Standard Ranks (this requires technical assistance from the Compas team).
- We can edit a Standard Rank via the pencil icon.
- We can delete a Standard Rank via the red cross. This is a soft delete as there will be data inside Compas associated with this Standard Rank. The soft delete can also be undone via the ‘undo’ arrow as shown below.
