V38.2.0 | Compas Maintenance | Release Notes

🚀Overview

We are pleased to announce Compas Maintenance Version 38.2.0. This includes a series of enhancements and bug fixes aimed at improving efficacy and functionality.

Disclaimer:

  • All the developments and fixes detailed in the release notes are implemented across all customer environments. However, depending on your company's settings and permissions, certain features may not be accessible or relevant.
  • If new features and tables are introduced for onboard applications, they may be exclusive to the onboard cloud.

 

🎉Enhancements and New Features

[COMPAS CLOUD (OFFICE)] [NEW MONTHLY NATIONAL HOLIDAY REPORT ADDED]

  • A new Monthly National Holiday report has been added. This report provides you with details of active crew when there are applicable holidays for them.
  • Reproduction steps: Compas (Cloud) Office | Payroll | Reports | Monthly National Holiday report
  • This report can be downloaded using excel.

Filters:

  • Nationality ('All' selected by default)
  • Rank (All to be selected by default) / include rank groups as well (single selection)
  • Company ('All' selected by default)
  • Manning Office ('All' selected by default)
  • Owner Pool ('All' selected by default)
  • Fleet ('All' selected by default)
  • Currently ('All' selected by default)
    • Options available: 'All', 'Onboard', and 'On Leave' ('On Leave' refers to non-onboard movement.)
  • Month (Single selection, as default picks up current month and year.)
  • Year

Columns:

  • # - The count of rows within the report.
  • CID - The crew id.
  • Rank - The crew’s rank description.
  • Surname
  • Name
  • Middle Name
  • Nationality - The crew’s nationality description.
  • Company
  • Manning Office
  • Owner Pool
  • Fleet
  • Crew type - The current crew type under profile.
  • Status - The status on the applicable holiday date and the crew’s status (based on crew’s movement).
  • Movement - On the vessel movement type on the holiday date (to reflect the crew’s movement description + it’s code, i.e. Onboard (OB)).
  • Vessel - The vessel on the applicable holiday date and the selected vessel.
  • Vessel Flag
  • Holiday - The holiday’s name.
  • Holiday date

  • The crew lined up report has been enhanced with a new icon and additional details of vessel, training provider, and training days. (This report can be downloaded using excel.)

The following columns have been added:

  • Name (surname, first name, middle name)
  • CID
  • Nationality
  • Next vessel
  • Rank
  • Join date
  • End Date
  • Course (based on training movement)
  • Start date of course (based on training movement)
  • End date of course (based on Training movement)
  • No of days of course (The number of days based on course start date and end date. If start date and end date is same day, it is counted as 1).
    • For example, if the start date is 1st Dec 2024 and the end date is 3rd Dec 2024, this will be counted as 3 days.
  • Training Provider (based on training movement)
  • Training Provider location
  • Crew status in training event (not to include cancelled)
  • Hotel booked (yes/no)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------[COMPAS CLOUD (OFFICE)] [SUPERFUND AND FORTNIGHT TAX CALCULATION UPDATES FOR PAPUA NEW GUINEA TAX REGIME]

  • The New Papua Guinea tax has been updated. The following tax elements have been updated: 'Superfund', 'Tax', and 'Union dues'.

Superfund

  • Employee: 6% of Basic wage - Applicable for crew under PNG Tax Regime.
  • Employer: 8.4% of Basic wage - Applicable for crew under PNG Tax Regime.

Fortnight Tax

  • The tax rates for fortnightly wage calculations have changed.
  • The changes have been updated as per the following.

Union Due

  •  
    • Union Dues are applicable for movements that are the “on vessel” type only.
    • The maximum amount deducted to be 20 USD.
    • Union dues to be computed 2% from basic wages only.

  • The vessel filter has been added to the non-vessel payroll group. This means you can identify crew with the selected vessel to close payroll.

  • The entry highlighted in red will only display for that vessel filter where a crew onboard/sailing movement has been added for a different vessel ID.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------[COMPAS CLOUD (OFFICE)] ['ANY' OPTION ADDED TO 'VESSEL UNDER CONTRACT' COLUMN]

  • Reproduction steps: Compas (Cloud) Office | Admin | Admin panel | (Payroll) Tax Jurisdiction Matrix
  • For the ‘Vessel under contract in this sector’ column, the option ‘Any’ has been implemented.
  • The tax days calculation has been updated to consider the vessels under contract.
    • The ‘Any’ option overrides any existing ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ options.

  • The threshold days are now displayed against the record when the crew’s exposure exceeds the limit value (and is counted from that record onwards).

  • Any changes in the G number can be managed from the user interface level without the need for a code level change.

 

🛠️Bug Fixes

[COMPAS CLOUD (OFFICE)] [STANDARD PAYSLIP DID NOT SHOW (ALL) VESSEL AND MOVEMENT DETAILS FOR THE MONTH]

  • Issue:
    • Previously, all vessel and movement details did not appear on the Standard Payslip for the month.
    • This issue occurred through the following breadcrumb trails:
      • Crew details | Payroll | Payroll | PDF Icon | Standard Payslip
      • Crew details | Payroll | Payroll | Printer Icon | Standard Payslip
      • Payroll Overview | Payroll group | Crew ID | Payslip
  • Outcome:
    • This issue has been fixed.

Consideration:

Standard Payslip Report: For customers using standard payslips that includes crew transfers, the current output includes pay information for both vessels. This fix will be considered in the next release.

[COMPAS CLOUD (OFFICE)] [EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTION | BACKPAY SHOWED UNDER EMPLOYEE AND TAX NOT DEDUCTED IF BACKPAY POSTED]

  • Issue:
    • Previously, the backpay for employers was deducted from the employee contribution and the remaining monthly tax deductions were missing.

  • Outcome:
    • This issue has been fixed.

  • Issue:
    • In the Compas CSS module, in the Payroll | Claims | Add Claims | Location dropdown menu, the word ‘location’ was spelt incorrectly as ‘locaion’.

  • Outcome:
    • This issue has been fixed.

  • Issue:
    • Previously, the importer did not process all appraisal files and emails received from vessels and rejected them.

  • Outcome:
    • This issue has been fixed.

  • Issue:

    • In CSS, when clicking the Calendar (days, months etc), Non Compliances (page arrows etc), Expiring Docs (3 Months, 12 Months etc), and message features buttons, they did not perform as expected.

  • Outcome:
    • This issue has been fixed.

  • Issue:
    • The following issues appeared in Compas Cloud (Office), Compas Onboard, and CSS:
      • The acknowledgement documents were not populated according to applicable vessel.
      • The acknowledgement documents were not populated according to vessel (whether it was Onboard, on leave, or another movement).
  • Outcome:
    • These issues have been fixed.

  • Issue:
    • If there was an employer contribution posted via process/externalTax API, it was not excluded from the backpay calculation.
  • Outcome:
    • This issue has been fixed.

  • Issue:
    • Users were unable to complete or update the Takeover port field/details under Vessel details | Management. The processing attempt disappeared quickly without any result appearing.
  • Outcome:
    • This issue has been fixed.

  • Issue:
    • In the Vessel Hotel Plan, when right-clicking the Deck and Cabin options, the options box would appear in the incorrect place (e.g. at the top or bottom of the page).
  • Outcome:
    • This issue has been fixed.

  • Issue:
    • There were discrepancies found in the CPF calculation for employees above 55 years whose contributions met the SGD 7,400 threshold.
  • Outcome:
    • This issue has been fixed.

  • Issue:
    • The following issues were present with the pensionelementsbackpayintegration functionality:
      • The hypotax (base amount) (pension backpay adj.) was deducted from a crew member.
      • The hypotax (base amount) (pension backpay adj.) did not include the leave days encashment.
  • Outcome:
    • These issues have been fixed.

  • Issue:
    • When trying to access the crew list, an error appears ('Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown. - Object cannot be cast from DBNull to other types.').

  • Outcome:
    • This issue has been fixed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------[COMPAS ONBOARD] [PLANNED EVENT | INCORRECT PLANNED EVENT COUNT FOR ONSIGNER]

  • Issue:
    • In the planned event count, the system counted individuals (with a promotion or demotion) twice (once as an offsigner and once as an onsigner) when they should have been counted as 1 onsigner only.

  • Outcome:
    • This issue has been fixed.

Note: This also applies to Compas Cloud (Office).

  • Issue:
    • Previously, the Canadian Marine Regulations convention were calculating NC’s incorrectly.

  • Outcome:
    • This issue has been fixed.
    • The convention has been hidden from the list and the “EnableCanadianRegulations” parameter has been updated to display the Canadian Labour Code only.

  • Issue:
    • Previously, in the email alerts, the NC Descriptions did not populate.
  • Outcome:
    • This issue has been fixed. (The (dbo.WRH_GetNCDescription) scalar function has been updated to accommodate the new NC Descriptions.)
