In Compas, this feature can be found through: Crew Applications | Applications.
When an application is successfully approved, a Compas ID will be created for the Applicant and the application moves to Compas
Application is approved by clicking the icon against the application. Please note the following:
- If any pre-employment checks are pending, then this message will be shown:
- Applications can be approved if the applicant has failed a test, even if it is Mandatory one.
- You do not have to lock an application to approve it, however it would make sense to do so prior to approving, as it signifies that the application is being considered.
Following box opens if approval is acceptable:
- Rank has to be selected as rank that applicant stated in application may not be the one that is being offered
- Dropdowns for the following are fixed as per info in the Employment Details in the Applicants Application Form
- Vessel can be changed, and is not restricted to choice of Company, Manning Office or Owner Pool
- Save.
If the approval is successful following box will open:
- Applicants name
- Applicants new Compas ID
- Password to access new Compas Record
- Copy Password - depending on password policy, may need to change password when accessing record for the first time

- Status is now approved. Lock is still
and cannot changed once application has been approved
- Second application by applicant is locked, lock automatically changes to

- Status is now Rejected. Rejection note is added. Moving the cursor to the note can see the dates added and any reminder date
- Clicking onto the remarks note opens the note
- Additional comments can be made.
- Moving the cursor onto previous remarks brings up the delete button. Click save to complete deletion
Email to Applicant
Once the application has been approved and moved to Compas, an email is sent to the applicant confirming that the application has been approved. Once the application has passed this approval, the applicant can no longer access the application via Crew Applications. This email can be worded to suit the client.
