Overview
To ensure continuous access to the most current training materials, monthly eLearning updates are delivered via secure download.
This procedure outlines the required steps to install the latest updates.
Step 1: New content announcement
New content will be announced in two ways:
On our Release Notes hub – using this link.
We will also send a secondary notification by email to ensure you do not miss any newly released content.
Step 2: Obtaining download credentials
Send an email with the subject line of Content Monthly Download to our Support team at support.otg@oneocean.com.
Step 3: Download the content
- Click on the link provided.
- Enter the password provided by our Support team.
- The download will begin automatically and save as a .zip file to the folder specified in your browser’s download settings.
Step 4: Unzip the downloaded file
- Create a new folder on your Windows Desktop (or preferred location).
- Unzip the contents of the downloaded .zip file into this folder.
Step 5: Installing the content
Open the folder on your desktop where you unzipped the files and then
- Copy and paste all the files into: C:\Ocean_Scorm_Upload_(OCEAN_OCEAN)\New_Files folder on your computer or server*.
- If prompted**, select Replace to overwrite existing files.
*The folder mentioned above is the default directory for the Ocean Learning Platform (OLP). If your installation is not located in the default directory and you are unsure of its location, you will need to contact your IT team to determine where the OLP application is installed.
**Under normal circumstances, this prompt should not appear, as the Ocean Learning Platform (OLP) automatically relocates files to the appropriate location. The prompt to replace or overwrite files only occurs if OLP previously failed to move certain files. In such cases, selecting Replace ensures that any residual or failed files are correctly updated.
Note: During the update process, you may briefly see your files disappear after placing them in the New Files folder. This is expected behaviour; it simply means system is actively processing and organising your files into the correct directories. When the process is complete, the files will appear in their correct location automatically.
Once copied, your system will be updated with the most recent eLearning content.
Here are some frequently asked questions that you may have, along with their respective answers.
What if a vessel has no internet access?
Internet is typically available when a vessel is in port. Monthly download sizes range between 500–750 MB.
Will we still get USBs?
Yes. An annual USB will be supplied, available in the first quarter of each calendar year. We recommend that once you receive your Q1 USB, you install it before downloading your monthly content, as the installation of the USB will replace any previously downloaded monthly content.
Is there a cost implication?
No. This enhancement is included under your current agreement.
